*Important* AsiaLive VOD subscriptions

*Do not upgrade your AsiaLive VOD version. The old version is still able to watch free contents*

Dear all AsiaBox users,

The recent update for AsiaLive VOD have changed all contents within AsiaBox to premium contents and a USD60 yearly subscription is required. This is a sudden change in the policy by PPTV.

Dear Peggy/Kevin,
Please note that today is the official launch of the AsiaLive VOD VIP Subscription.
Users are given 7 days trial period to test the new VIP programs. After that, they can login to http://premium.pptv.com/asialivevod/ and pay US$60.00 for a yearly subscription.
Support email: asialivevod@gmail.com
Users can still access free contents. They can filter the contents by pressing the RED button on the remote.

We, the sole distributor for AsiaBox was not known of such measures and are doing our best to negotiate with SyaBas to work things out. Currently, once you’ve updated to the latest AsiaLive VOD firmware, users have 7 days trial period, following that a yearly subscription.

Please forward your enquiries about this changes to asialivevod@gmail.com.

Thank you.

Cheers and Happy AsiaBoxing,

Paul

  1. Dear all AsiaBox users,

Since the policy change of PPTV, we have decided that, for AsiaBox HDII users only, who do not wish to pay for such subscriptions, you can exchange your set to Mr Cloud in our office. For more information of Mr Cloud, please click http://www.myonlinemediaplayer.com/mrcloud

Please remember to bring along all your accessories and most importantly your receipt for AsiaBox HDII.

P.S. This applies only to AsiaBox HDII users.

    Cheers and Happy AsiaBoxing,

    Paul

  2. Ken Chan

    Hi Paul,

what about the rest of the users whom bought the boxes during Sitex? This is unfair to us too as we were told no subscriptions as well. Please kindly advice as our box were bought less than 1 year which should be covered in this unfortunate situation as well!

  3. michelle

This is ridicules! who in the hell will go pay us60 yearly to watch old shows! There is not even a single 2012 tvb series in it! Is the exchange to Mr cloud free? How do I know whether I ha asiabox hdii or other models? And y only this model can exchange? So means I can jolly well throw the useless box away!!!????

  4. Dear all AsiaBox users,

When you update to the latest version of AsiaLive VOD, all your favorites will be deleted. You can still view these favourites in the previous version, but until 12th April, you will still need to update the version anyhow.

  5. kelvin lee

Why the 1 to 1 exchange only restricted to Asiabox HDII? I have bought an Asiabox which is an older version also around the pricing of SGD $250.00 so don’t you think is unfair which you had promised the videos inside is all free?

    • I bought asiabox becoz of that and paid $250 whereas a roku box only costs $99usd (which is so much stable and sleek) which we pay for some of the contents. In comparison, Amconics is earning a big premium from us. Why now only allow swap for Asiabox HD2 and not HD version?

Really felt cheated. Amconics told us that there is no subscription in the first place!

      • Dear AsiaBox customers,

This news is as surprising to you and as to us. A subscription was activated by PPTV, not by us, the authorized distributors for AsiaBox.
For those customers whom have updated to the latest version, you can actually downgrade it by Un-installing it, and re-installing it again. This will revert back to the previous version. But whether or not after 7 days the previous version still works, we do not know. Alternately, you still can use veryHD.net & IMS reader to view your movies/series.

We’e arranged a meeting next week with SyaBas marketing director to sort things out. Do bear with us in the meantime.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Thank you.

  6. Dear all AsiaBox users,

Due to this last minute notice from SyaBas & PPTV(source provider), we, the distributors of AsiaBox are coming up with solutions to deal with this issue. We sincerely hope that you could be patient with us as PPTV & SyaBas sort things out in this 7 days trial period. As we all know, USD60/year is a big deal, unless PPTV improve greatly in their 2012 contents.

Thus, we have come up with a few solutions, more to come when PPTV provides more information :

    1) Free upgrade from AsiaBox/AsiaBox HDII to Mr Cloud. This applies only to receipts dated after 1st March 2012.

    2) There are few more apps to view movies/series contents such as, veryHD.net, IMS reader, LeTV, Asia Luck. Please use these apps in the time being.

    3) We have subscribed 5 AsiaBox in our showrooms in order to keep track of what’s new and worth it for the USD60 subscriptions.

    4) We have asked for an offical letter from SyaBas/PPTV stating that they initiated this subscription charges. The above screenshot is from SyaBas marketing director.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

    Cheers,
    Paul

  7. So now you mean only receipt after 1st Mar is entitled to free upgrade to Mr Cloud for Asiabox HDII? This is double standard when you initially just put only Asiabox HDII with no receipt date indicated.

    So which is which?

Mine is not even 4 mths old!

    • Hi Mr Soo,

If your set has a AsiaBox HDII sticker at the front of the player, you can bring down your asiabox and exchange for Mr Cloud without charges. The above exchange is valid for AsiaBox HDII players bought after 1st April.

  8. Cheaters!!!!!!!! Asiabox is not cheap, mind you…. and now we are left with either throw the box away or pay usd60 for it! Furthermore there are no new shows at all!

    • We have subscribed 5 AsiaBox in our showrooms in order to keep track of what’s new and worth it for the USD60 subscriptions. Do bear with us in the meantime while we sort things out for all our dear AsiaBox users.

You can un-install and re-install AsiaLive VOD at the moment to restore your movies during this 7 days, while we gather more information for everyone.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Thank you.

  9. kelvin lee

Any Asiabox bought after 1st March 2012? This is a joke right? This is so unfair to the old existing customers of yours!

    • Hi Mr Kelvin,

Normally 1-to-1 exchange policy is only 7 days for all products in Singapore. But because of this issue, we’ve extended this to more than 1 month. But for purchases beyond this 1 month, we’re unable to extend this policy.

Do bear with us while we iron out this isseue with SyaBas and PPTV next week. In the meantime, you can un-install and re-install the AsiaLive VOD to revert back the previous version in the “Asia Picks” category.

      Thank you.

      • When I bought the unit last year, your sales people said the subscription for 3 yrs is paid for. Now you are asking for USD60 for premium content. This is ridiculous. I paid $290 as early adopter and this is the treatment I get in the end???

        • Hi Tabbon,

Actually, when we marketed AsiaBox, we were told of the free & unlimited contents in AsiaBox too. However, PPTV suddenly decided to change their business plans without notice, and affected SyaBas and AsiaBox resellers throughout Asia. But as a renowned AsiaBox distributor in Asia, Amconics will do our best to assist in whatever issue we can for our loyal customers throughout AsiaBox, and those from other countries. Do bear with us in the meantime while we settle the issue with them.

          Thank you.

  10. unhappydude

you do know most of use got the asiabox for the asialivevod. and so to say that even if u allow a 1 to 1 exchange to mrcloud. does mr cloud have the same vod capabilities as asialive vod?

    • Hi there,

Yes, Mr Cloud have the same capabilities as AsiaLive VOD, and even more contents. AsiaBox have 30k contents, but Mr Cloud have 300,000 or more contents. And Mr Cloud is able to search in both english characters and PinYin. However, as AsiaBox is a US technology, its User-Interface cannot be compared to those of other brands in the market. Thank you.

      Cheers,
      Paul

      • UnhappyCustomer

I purchased Asiabox because of its user interface and streaming performance. If I were to go for contents, I would rather go for cheaper version of china box which cost SGD 159 (or even lesser) during last IT Show. What if after exchange for Mr Cloud, the streaming is slow due to its open source? Your other option of IMS, VeryHD, VeryKaraoke are having very slow performance even with my 16mbps bandwidth. The only performance I could satisfy with is asialive vod, which I have to pay for subscription?! I urge Amconics and Syabas could come out with a satisfactory solution for all the unhappy customer in singapore!!!

        • I managed to trade in to Mr.Cloud yesterday and now I love Mr.Cloud more than AsiaBox HDII. Despite the poor interface to select movies via carousel, the search function is powerful and I manage to get movies and series from there, even latest ones. No regrets whatsoever with the Mr.Cloud. Streaming no problem with 16mbps connection. Thanks Amconics for allowing me to change to this device. I really appreciate it.

        • Don’t you face any streaming/speed issue with AsiaLive VOD from 7pm to 1am daily ?

          • Hi Al,

Some customers may face low streaming speed issue after 7pm due to high traffic in their location. Also, if there’s high traffic in the VOD server, it may also affect everyone. To help in buffering, you can access setup, and select Network. Under Network, find DNS server, and change it to Google DNS, instead of Auto/Manual.

For those who have upgraded it to the latest version, you can uninstall it and reinstall to revert back to previous version for now. We are doing our best to negotiate with relevant parties on the subscription issue. Do bear with us in the mean time. Thank you.

            Cheers and Happy AsiaBoxing,
            Paul

  11. Your company advertised this AsiaBox with a promise of free VOD w/o subscription for at least a couple of years. If we had know there will be a future US$60 annual subscription, I would definitely not purchased it. In addition, we only use the AsiaLive VOD App for all our series shows. For the rest of the Apps, the shows are always slow & intermitten which is very frustrating.

This is clearly a case of mis-representing your products and we reserve the right to a reasonable replacement or full refund, even for sets brought before March 1st, 2012. This is only fair. If not, we may have to appeal to CASE for a amicable solution. If I am not wrong, sooner or later other Apps like LeTV, VeryHD, RMS Render, etc. will also ask for subscriptions too. Who can stop them?? We will end up throwing the AsiaBox away.

    • Hi Mr Goh,

Till now, PPTV and SyaBas have not answered any of our questions, and neither did the asialivevod@gmail.com account.

Furthermore, we, the reseller of AsiaBox, did not come out with the subscription idea, nor we’re getting any commissions on this. When we marketed this product, we were also ensured by SyaBas and PPTV of free movies contents for us and our dear customers. Therefore, we are as surprised as you when we received the news last thursday when they announced the subscription plan.

We’ve arrange meetings with SyaBas marketing director on this issue and hope to come out with solutions for everyone. Do bear with us in the meantime while we iron out this major problem in AsiaBox. Thank you.

      • I think Amconics is taken by surprise just like any of us. To be fair, in my opinion, Amconics is not in cahoots with SyaBas.

I have updated the new AsiaLive VOD and am surprised to find (like all of you) the USD60 subscription thingy.

Let’s not be hot-headed. Really, if those who want an exchange for other makes of MediaPlayer, they should really take up the goodwill gesture of Amconics.

Amconics can never please everyone as each of us has different expectation. Therefore, for those who wish to escalate higher, nobody can stop them.

      • Thanks for your reply. I can understand your position on this issue. You are as shocked as we are. However, you are the retailer of SyaBas & PPTV products & services. Hence you have the responsility to fight our case diligently to ensure this does not create a precedence for other Apps to follow suit in imposing subscription. This must be nipped in the bud. If not your business will be seriously affected & you will have lots of angry customers to attend to. It is also important to inform them that they should not downgrade the VOD contents, if it is for free, in order to entice us to pay subscription for premium services.

REMEMBER – YOU ARE OUR FRONTLINE TO FIGHT OUR CASE AS WE CANNOT DEAL DIRECTLY WITH SYABASE & PPTV. THANKS.

        • Hi Mr Goh,

Thank you for your feedback. We will take into consideration. We have been told that this move by PPTV, is not just on AsiaBox, but also happened on PC and iDevice platforms. On both PC and iDevice, you will notice that most TVBs have been removed, and more and more contents will slowly be removed from the applications. PPTV are moving towards their business plan.

However, together with the help of SyaBas, we are doing our best to negotiate our terms with PPTV to modify their plans. If PPTV insist on their subscription, we will come out with better solutions to help our loyal customers.

Do bear with us in the meantime while we iron out this issue with SyaBas.

P.S. The previous VOD version is still working fine.

          Cheers and Happy AsiaBoxing,
          Paul

  12. How do we uninstall and revert to previous version?

    • Hi Darren & Phang,

To uninstall, press “i” button on the remote with your cursor on the AsiaLive VOD. Choose “Uninstall”. Following that, install back under apps market.

      Cheers and Happy AsiaBoxing,
      Paul

  13. I accidently update the new version and try to uninstall and reinstall again, but still showing new version. How should i do?! Please advice!

  14. Yes, I uninstalled and reinstalled still the same. It wont downgrade to previous version. Mine only bought less than 2 weeks. Somemore tell my friends and relatives to get. Not sure they bought not, if bought I think I don’t know how to explain to them.

    • Hi Pual,

I accidently update the new version on AsiaLive VOD and try to uninstall and reinstall again, but still showing new version. can i go back to the old version. Please advice?? Thank You

      • Hi all,

PPTV have removed the previous version since yesterday night. Right now, the only version is the one with subscription. In the meantime, you can use IMS reader to view other movies/series, though the user interface is not as good as AsiaLive VOD. Do not subscribe yet until PPTV improves their contents and offers. For those who do not wish to wait for PPTV, you can exchange your set for Mr Cloud without any charges*. This applies to receipts dated after 1st April 2012. Please bring your set to our office along with your receipt for the exchange, alternatively, you can call +65 63365988, and look for Peggy with regards to this exchange policy. Thank you.

*A exchange fee may be levied for receipts dated before 1st April 2012.

        We apologize for the inconvenience.

        • i brought the asiabox since last year nov or dec can i exchange to mr cloud . thank you

          • Hi Edward,

For your case, you will need to call our office @63365988 and look for Peggy. It will be good if you can find the exact date of your purchase. Our office is open from 12pm – 8pm daily. Thank you.

            Cheers,
            Paul

  15. I update the new version on AsiaLive Vod, And cannot see Drama, Because of subscriptions. I try to uninstall and reinstall again, but still showing new version. How should i do?! Please advice??. This is the third set i have upgrade and i have to $190 for upgrading.do u think i need to upgrade again, End up got to throwing the AsiaBox away.

    • Hi Paul

i go to sim lim sq check with peggy , she say cannot to anything.
you all are trying push away.
      alot customer face this problem??????

  16. Tok Tian Hong

Its definitely sad and frustrated to see all responsibility shift to PPTV + ASia Live VOD.

I had bought 2 boxes since beginning this year.
Now after 3 months, i got to write it off.
    This is very unacceptable.

If Amconics is sincere to resolve this, tell us by when can we come to conclusion for those boxes less than a year old?

When we were sold with the box, we are being assured that we could have the content for at least 2 or 3 years. Now it becomes only 3 months.

Now, tell us what is as good time frame that you can give us a final answer on if we are still able to access the asialive vod contents or to give us a new box?
I think we have a very substantial case here to create a big awareness.

    • Hi Mr Tok,

We are still in the midst of negotiating with PPTV with regards to their subscription plans. They have yet to release any further information to both SyaBas and Amconics. Furthermore, all AsiaBox users not just in Singapore are affected by such issue, even in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia. Every authorized regional AsiaBox resellers are facing the same issue as us, but according to SyaBas, Amconics is the only one who is helping SyaBas to negotiate with PPTV.

As PPTV have yet to release further information, we, Amconics can only offer so much solutions to the current situation. For those players bought within a year or even after a year, users are advised to wait until we’ve settled with PPTV and decide which course of action to take.

Do bear with us in the meantime. Thank you.

      Cheers,
      Paul

  17. I bought the unit last year and I try many time to uninstall and reinstall again, but still showing new version. Uable got back to the old version. I hope you can 1to1 ex-charge to Mr.Cloud as face low streaming speed issue everyday. Angry!!

    • Hi Mr Woo,

Apparently, PPTV have updated their version last night, therefore uninstalling does not work anymore. Though such “backdoor” solutions was suggested to SyaBas by us.

You can call 63365988 and check with Peggy regarding your case. Thank you.

      Cheers,
      Paul

  18. PissedoffCustomer

Bought my box since last yr n lost the receipt?
Are u guys able to check via serial number or smth ?
    This is way to ridiculous!

    • Hi there,

The receipt itself is your warranty card and proof of purchase, which we’ve explained at the time of purchase. If you’ve lost your receipt, we apologize that we are unable to trace your serial number. However, if you used NETS or credit card during payment, we could search our database, provided if you know the date and time of purchase. Following that, we could issue you a replacement receipt.

      Cheers,
      Paul

  19. Hi Paul, FYI I accidentally upgraded the version to the latest. Now none of the movie works. It keeps saying cannot play and retrying. Are you able to assist n advice? Thanks.

    • Hi Alan,

Apparently, PPTV have updated their version last night, therefore uninstalling does not work anymore. Though such “backdoor” solutions was suggested to SyaBas by us. Even IMS reader and veryHD.net have been removed by PPTV.

Do bear with us in the meantime while PPTV sort things out.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

      Yours sincerely,
      Paul

  20. Hi Admin…

So what is the outcome with Sysbas and PPTV?? Tried using VeryHD and IMS Reader but it is VERY VERY slow!! please keep us updated… Thanks!!

  21. Grace Tan

    Hi Paul,

I’ve just been to the office in SLS. Exchanged my asiabox to mrcloud for $100. Expected it cuz i bought my asiabox last september IT show. Now watching all the latest TVB at home with starhub 16mpbs. Well, at least $100 is better than usd60/year. Open source I heard, which means confirm no subscription?

    • Hi Grace,

Open Source is a technology that allows media players to access the entire Chinese internet database and servers. This database contains tons of movies/series/shows/animations/pictures/videos and everything else. It has been around for the past 5+ years and so far there were no mention of any charges by these servers.

      Cheers,
      Paul

  22. Fergus Woo

Peggy mentioned that because my asiabox is bought last year, i’ll have to trade in my asiabox for mrcloud and top up some cash. According to web research, mrcloud is using opensource which provides unlimited everything. Hopefully if i change it to mrcloud, there will not be any stupid subscription issues.

  23. My mum paid usd60 and got 14months subscription. round up ard sgd78 aga aga. Lets just hope Amconics can really do what paul mentioned. Increase 2012 contents and speed. More korean shows with english subs please.

  24. Dear users,

The following are some issues we’ve highlighted to PPTV for negotiation. Do let us know if there’s any further questions you guys want us to add in. Thank you.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

  25. Most US series (2012 and 2011) only provide up to 3 or less episodes. For example, Dr House season 8. If they expect us to pay, please provide a complete service, not just add a incomplete version.

    • Hi Swat,

As mentioned above (chinese words), we’ve added tons of solution to PPTV on how to improve their service. That includes with what you’ve just mentioned. We’ve mentioned that if PPTV wants customers to pay their subscription, they have to improve greatly in their curent contents services. Thank you.

      Cheers,
      Paul

  26. Fustrated Customer

    Hi Admin

I am surprised to see those conditions. The point is we have acquired the box based on the commitment that there will not be subscription fee. If you are really keen to fulfill your obligiations, shouldnt you be negotiating with PPTV to waive the charge instead of those conditions.

It’s disheartening to see the Asiabox services degrading more and more overtime,

Initially, the box was working just fine with reasonable speed.

After a while, the VOD slowed down significantly during the evening period. But nevermind…, we still have the weekends to play around with.

Subsequently, even the weekends are slow. There is totally no slot where the VOD is of acceptable condition.Pls do not suggest other applications, like VeryHD, LETV or IMS Reader, they are totally unreliable and extremely slow.

Now, the subscription requirements started to surface. It has been a most fustrating experience….!

    • Hi there,

Indeed is it true that no subscription fees were promised, however, it was also PPTV that promised AsiaBox and resellers with the free contents. Now, PPTV decided to introduce their business plan, all users down the line are affected. Amconics, as the authorized reseller in Singapore, is keen to assist our loyal customers with this issue and have come out with few solutions. More solutions will be introduced as time goes by.

But we are not very optimistic about waiver of this usd60 charge. In overall, about 40,000 AsiaBox sets have been sold throughout Asia. In the eyes of PPTV, it is a usd2.4M amount, which is impossible to be waived. But what we’ve mentioned in our meeting with SyaBas is that if PPTV wants customers to pay their subscription, they have to improve greatly in their curent contents services.

In the meantime, please bear with us while we wait for both SyaBas and PPTV’s reply. Thank you.

      Cheers,
      Paul

  27. Thanks Paul for the advice. Btw, I noticed there is another newer version of update released. V2.08. Should we proceed with the updating or still waiting for further notice on your end? Currently version V2.07. Any latest update from PPTV regards to this change?

    • Hi Alan,

There is not much difference from 2.08 and 2.07 as both requires subscription. We’re in the midst of waiting for SyaBas and PPTV’s reply on our proposal. Do bear with us in the meantime. Thank you.

      Cheers,
      Paul

  28. Hi Paul, is there a cut off date line for 1-1 Mr Cloud exchange? Bought my Asia Box II after 1st Mar and I do not want to end up cannot exchange after a period of time while waiting patiently for SyaBas and PPTV’s reply.

    • Hi Gary,

If your player is bought after 1st April 2012, you will still be able to change to Mr Cloud for free. However, the cut-off date for exchanging to Mr Cloud is by 30th April 2012 or while stocks last.

      Cheers,
      Paul

      • Hi Paul,

how about those who bought earlier? I bought it during Sirez last Sep. What if you run out of Mr. Cloud?

        Please advice!!!

        • Hi Ken,

We still have around 100 pieces of Mr Cloud left and the cut-off date is end of April 2012or whichever comes first. You can come down to our showrooms and try out our Mr Cloud and see if it’s up to your liking.

          Cheers,
          Paul

      • I went to check Mr Cloud, the contents are very slow and not of similar quality. It is not a comparable replacement.

        • Hi Jon,

Thank you for your feedback. As you should know by now, AsiaBox runs on SyaBas Technology which provides a special user interface. Furthermore, AsiaBox have high quality blu-ray contents and have around 30,000 titles in their database. However, as for Mr Cloud, though its contents are of 720p average, its enormous contents of 100,000 (or more) titles makeup for the difference btw itself and AsiaBox. With all the latest 2012 movies/series/cartoons in Mr Cloud, you wouldnt have enough time to watch them all. Even those movies that are playing in local cinemas, Mr Cloud have them. Hope this helps. Thank you.

          Cheers,
          Paul

  29. Are we suppose to wait for the reply from pptv or exchange for mr cloud as noe you have a cut off date. pls advise wait or exchange as you are saying you may have some possible solution.

    • Still waiting for your answer

      • Hi Eric,

Depending on your preference on open source technology, you can opt to exchange it to Mr Cloud asap. Alternatively, you can bring down your AsiaBox and let our staff have a look and see if we can downgrade it for you.

        Cheers,
        Paul

  30. asiabox

paid USD60 to continue watch Drama older then 2012, show us 2012 drama, else we just paid for 2011 and before movie….

  31. PissedoffCustomer

Finally found my receipt and it stated purchase date is sep 2011.
How much requires to top up for mr cloud and will it after one war come this type of stunt again ?

    • Hi there,

You can call our office @ 63365988 and look for Peggy, she can quote you the price for your exchange. Also, open-source is a technology that contains tons of China servers in their database, and it have been around for a few years. You can actually search ‘open source china’ for more information. Its similar to piratebay and those affiliates but China version.

      Cheers,
      Paul

Hi, I just came back from Overseas assignment & innocently UPDATED the AsiaVod resulting in the 7-days trail option. I respect your decision wrt the 1 to 1 exchange for Mr Cloud HOWEVER, your latest responce for the FREE EXCHANGE are valid only for those receipts dated after April 1st. Please take note of your responce dated April 6th … as listed below.
    1) Free upgrade from AsiaBox/AsiaBox HDII to Mr Cloud. This applies only to receipts dated after 1st March 2012.
I bought it during the March IT Show 2012, thus dated Mar 8th. Please advise as I believe it will be very very fair for those who purchased AsiaBox HDII during March IT Show 2012 to get a FREE 1 to 1 exchange for the Mr Cloud. I am abit disappointed however, I believe Amconics will not turn their backs on their valued customers.

asiabox can support new apps, why can’t you just get other companies to create a new app?

    • toopidpaka

to add on, create a new app that displays shows from the open sources, like the one in your mr. cloud that so many customers swears by.

    • Hi there,

Not just ‘anyone’ can create an app which is able to support users around the world. Furthermore, according to SyaBas, they are already in the process of making an app for open sources, preferably by 2nd quarter 2012 according to their R&D department.

      Cheers,
      Paul

      • Any newa of the open aource app as u have mentioned above? Tks.

        • Hi Ray,

So far, we’ve no news on the open source app yet. To help this situation further, we would like you to share your thoughts and views with Syabas and AsiaLive VOD directly – this way, they will feel your anguish and frustrations, in hopes that they move faster in getting back your regular Asiabox viewing experience.

  34. Hi All,

It maybe a suggestion to PPTV via Amconics/Syabas to accept advertising in PPTV’s business model.

Since Asiabox has a lot of contents (some trailers and actual movies), PPTV can explore the model that a 15seconds to 30seconds of advertisement to be played before any “actual” contents be in trailer or movies are shown.

This way, in my opinion, either we the “customers” still continue to be able to have free contents or if indeed PPTV still insists to charge a yearly subscription, with the “Advertising” business model, hopefully, the yearly member subscription will be reduced substantially.

It would be good also, if the subsciption to be in SGD instead of USD.

    Thank you.

    • Hi Al,

Thank you for your response but the advertisement idea was already one of our solutions for PPTV. Thank you.

      Cheers,
      Paul

  35. Hi Paul, any news from both SyaBas and PPTV. Thank you.

  36. Hi Paul,

Your reply dated 22 Apr 2012 to Toopidpaka refers.

If indeed SyaBas can offer the “open source” solution in 2nd Qtr 2012 (that is within these few months) does that mean that the PPTV’s issue will be circumvented ? And we, the “customers” can have access to about 100,000 or more titles as in the likes of Mr Cloud where you have replied on 23 Apr 2012 to Jon ?

    Thank you…

    • Hi Al,

Yes, if SyaBas can successfully create the open-source onto AsiaBox, it will become a more powerful online media player and contents will outweigh PPTV’s.

      Cheers,
      Paul

  37. There is an error message : “Cannot connect to server”. I am using wired connection. I have tried to use the Setup Wizard. I have tried to change from Google DNS to Auto. I have changed the wire. I have off-on the box for a number of times. Pls help.

    • Hi Kaede,

Try going into setup and choose Restore to default settings. If this step still doesnt help your situation, you can bring it down to our office @ Sim lim square #04-13a/b during office hours and let our staff have a look at it. Remember to bring along your receipt too. Thank you.

      Cheers,
      Paul

  38. Is there another alternative to Mr Cloud? I need composite output but Mr Cloud do not have this function.

    • Hi Don,

You can actually connect the composite cable to the RCA behind. It works fine too. Alternatively, you can call Peggy @ 63365988 and arrange a timing where our staff can help you downgrade your system. Thank you.

      Cheers,
      Paul

      • My mistake, I need component output.

        • Hi Don,

If your TV does not have RCA port, you can actualy connect the Green to the Yellow port, and red/white to red/white port. Works fine too.

          Cheers,
          Paul

  39. Hi Paul,

    G’day.

Can you check if IMS Reader “IMS 1 VOD” on AsiaBox is functioning or are we expecting an update soon to this app as it has been down since 23 Apr 2012 night.

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

  40. hi, i had updated prior to seeing this email. may i know how do i downgrade it back?

    • Hi Alvin,

Please bring down your AsiaBox + receipt + 4gb (or more) thumbdrive and let our staff assist you. Do not bring it down if you’re still using the old version.

      Cheers,
      Paul

      • Paul, as i am using the older version. does it meant that you are not able to do it? i had purchase it last year around sept.

        • Hi Alvin,

If you’re using the older version of AsiaLive VOD, version 1, there’s no need for any changes. Remember not to update the AsiaLive VOD app.

          Cheers and Happy AsiaBoxing,
          Paul

  41. Hi Paul,

The IMS Reader “IMS 1 VOD” has been down since last weekend. Today, 25/4/2012 I have brought my set to Kelvin for troubleshoot, he told me that their set is down as well and he mentioned that you will be informed of it and will provide a solution.

May I know if you have rectified the IMS issue ? This is my 2nd posting on the same matter.

    Kindly advise.

    Thanks!

    • Hi Al,

Till date, the IMS 1 VOD have not been rectified. Most probably there’s some error on the developer side. You can try using the other 2 options available in IMS reader. We’ll let you know if the issue improves. Thank you.

      Cheers and Happy AsiaBoxing,
      Paul

  42. Hi admin,

Can you update the status between your talks with SyaBas and PPTV? Month end is coming soon and we need to decide if we want to say with AsiaBox or exchange with Cloud for cash top up, based on your last statement that the last date for exchange is end of this month. If there is no solution or delay, I would suggest that your last date for exchange is delay as well.

  43. PissedoffCustomer

    What is the status ?

  44. Hi.. previously you did mention in 2012 q2 syabas will introduce open source in asiabox. Any update now? Also if we pay for the subscription, can we watch latest hk drama?

    • Hi Jeff,

Yes, Syabas did mentioned that. So far there’s no update from Syabas on the release date (not even on their website). Also, before you subscribe, you can use IMS reader in the meantime to watch some tvbs series/movies too (Yes, its back up).

      Cheers,
      Paul

      • Which channel in IMS reader offer better streaming speed? Any recommendation?

        • Hi Jeff,

Different servers in IMS reader provides different speed. Also, different movies/series titles have different speed due to the number of seeds provider. Therefore, you may have to jump around different servers for different titles.

  45. 3857gwo

Could you install PPS or other service providers to replace PPTV? If PPTV was the only provider in your system, I don’t think PPTV will reduce the subscription fee!

    • Hi Gwo,

According to Syabas (manufacturer), they only allow PPTV as their main source provider. BTW, with the USD60 subscription, you’ll get the ease of watching movies like no other players in the market. The speed of loading movies is unparalleled (1-5sec for blu-ray quality). Along with series/dramas/documentary/MTVs/variety shows and more. As you’re paying a premium for Asiabox, both PPTV and Syabas will frequently update their program, movie titles, apps from all over the world, firmware, where as compared to other players, most are stagnant from the day you purchase the product.

Also, with only USD60/year ($6+/month), you’ll get access to 15k movies, 5k series, 2k animations, 1k variety shows, MTVs and many many more in BLU-RAY qualities. Why not? You save time searching for latest movies in other media player/programs, frustated qualities & streaming speed, dangling wires here and there. Kinda worth it no?

There are still customers who prefer convenience over a small premium price, and there are customers who prefer the other way round. Its up to individuals to choose which way they prefer. We have demonstrations in our office to show the difference in subscribed and non-subscribed Asiabox. Do drop by and see first-hand the difference. You’ll never know you might like it. :)

      • Hi.. if we pay for the US$60 subscription, can we watch the latest HK TVB Drama? Any demo box at your office?

        • Hi Jeff,

Yes, with te subscription, all contents are unlocked. But before you go about with the subscription, do come down to our office for a live demonstration. You can also view the entire list of series/movies in it too.

          Cheers,
          Paul
